The item known as a collectible (or collectable) is usually a manufactured item meant for individuals to collect. For this reason, they are separate from other things of collections, which may also include natural items (for example, beetles) and objects designed for purposes other than collecting (such as, photos).

Quite a few subjects manufactured for other uses, (e.g. toys), turned out to be so in demand in the world of collectors that they are subsequently targeted directly to that group of collectors.
